YWCA GOALS — CLOSE TO HOME AND AROUND THE WORLD

30.04.2015

Advocacy, YWCA News

You can find the YWCA in many cities around the world–all part of a larger movement, World YWCA.

Many goals of the YWCA are reflected in the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

UN eradicate poverty hunger 2 UN universal primary education 3 UN gender equality 4 UN child mortality

5 UN maternal health 6 combat disease 7 UN environment 8 UN global partnership

At a panel discussion in Geneva this month, the World YWCA discussed persistent gender inequalities that have continued to undermine these UN MDGs, but also the fearlessness of NGOs and the women’s rights movement to address these challenges.

Here in Saskatoon, our mission is to eliminate poverty, homelessness and violence for women and their families.

There is much work to be done to meet these goals. Want to get make a difference right here where you live? Ask YWCA Saskatoon how you can organize your own event to raise awareness and financial support for our local community work.
