Working in the COVID 19 Environment – Agriculture

YWCA Saskatoon’s Employment and Learning Centre remains closed for in-person programs in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.  We will continue to provide remote services via email, telephone, and social media (Facebook).

We believe it is important to maintain your job search momentum. As such the Employment and Learning Centre will offer you daily job search advice and support that you can complete from home.

It is fair to say that the people’s top priority during the COVID – 19 pandemic should be ensuring that you and your family remain safe.  However, if you are available to work, there are many ways to contribute to Saskatchewan’s COVID-19 response.  This article is the first in a series which will discuss opportunities within the COVID-19 environment.  Some opportunities may be temporary or survival jobs, but they do pay and may lead to further opportunities down the road.

Saskatchewan has a strong agriculture and agri-food economy.  Saskatchewan is home to more than 40% of Canada’s cultivated farmland.  Saskatchewan’s diverse agriculture and agri-food sector has an international reputation for consistently supplying high-quality food and ingredients. Saskatchewan is the largest exporter of agri-food products in Canada.  In fact, there are more than 300 food processing companies in Saskatchewan produce a wide range of cereal, meat, dairy and bakery products, as well as food ingredients.
