“LOVE My Job” YWCA Staff Stories – Val’s Story

Val doesn’t see her job as a personal trainer as a job. She loves to see people’s lives changed for the better by becoming more physically active. The enjoyment she receives for helping people on this journey motivates her to provide the best possible care and attention for her clients.

Val is invested in helping fitness members of all ages improve their quality of life, but she has a special place in her heart for those experiencing the challenges of aging. First hand, as a personal trainer, she has seen people’s lives improve through exercise.

Her clients tell her that they sleep better, can do everyday tasks and activities more easily, and notice improvements in their overall health and wellness.

Although Val loves both group and individual interactions, she finds the one-on-one relationships very fulfilling. Helping a client to set goals through a personal fitness assessment and then continue on a path to a healthier way of life is satisfying for her.

Val remembers what it was like to work in an office setting and says she would never go back to that way of life. For her, the active lifestyle of being a personal trainer makes for a great way of life that is both satisfying and fun.

Watch for the “LOVE My Job” series of staff stories running this February on YWCA Saskatoon’s website blog and social media channels. We love what we do, and it shows!
