Looking for job search assistance?

The YWCA Employment & Learning Centre, Job Search Program is funded by the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training and supports women and men with their job search and how to promote themselves in the current labour market.

We have three service streams, job search workshops, individual appointments and a job finding club.

Below you will find a description of the weekly job search workshops, individual intakes and an overview of our services.

The job search workshops are delivered by our Employment Counsellors and start at 9:30 AM:

  • Monday: Resume Development – Information about formats, assistance to develop or update your resume, and development of an individual employment plan
  • Wednesday: Job Search Techniques – Information including scripting for cold calls and informational interviews to approach employers, application tips and assistance with cover letters
  • Thursday: Interview Preparation -Information and support to feel confident and well-prepared for interviews and how to select and prepare references
  • Friday: Job Search Online – Assistance to learn how to search and apply for jobs online.

After completing the weekly job search workshops, our Employment Counsellors continue to work with job seekers and provide job search supports in person, by email and telephone. Through our funding, we are also able to offer short term training related to job goals, work history and current job postings.  Our Employment Counsellors remain available to provide support for the first six months of employment.  As required, information about other community supports is available.

We also offer some individual appointments, as availability allows, where an Employment Counsellor provides all the services as listed above.

The Job Search Program has supported job seekers for more than twenty years and recognizes that finding a job is a process of identifying and enhancing skills, setting employment goals, developing job search documents and making a plan to job search. Making connections with employers and participating in our employer events and community job fairs are important activities to ensure employment outcomes.

The YWCA Saskatoon, Employment & Learning Centre team is committed to working with job seekers to achieve your employment goals. For further information or to become part of the Job Search Program please phone 306.986.2873 or email: empserv@ywcasaskatoon.com.
