Employers Still Open…..Still Hiring After the Provincial Announcement

YWCA Saskatoon’s Employment and Learning Centre remains closed for in-person programs in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.  We will continue to provide remote services via email, telephone and online (Facebook).

We believe it is important to maintain your job search momentum. As such the Employment and Learning Centre will offer you daily job search advice and support that you can complete from home.

On March 25, 2020, the Saskatchewan government outlined a wide variety of business types that will have to close their physical locations in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus. Previously, only a small selection of businesses, including bars and nightclubs, had been ordered closed or reduced to operating under strict conditions.

The list of critical businesses and services that can remain open was released by the provincial government.  The list includes Health care and public health workers, Law enforcement, public safety, and first responders, Production, processing, and manufacturing and the supporting supply chains, Transportation and logistics, Government and community services, Media and telecommunications, Construction including maintenance and repair, Select retail services and Banking and financial services.

Below is a link to a more complete list of the allowable businesses and services:

You may wish to refocus you job search on one or two of these industries.  As always, apply with job search documents tailored to the job you are applying for.  A one size fits all resume will most likely not work in today’s economy.  Make it easier for the employer to hire you by highlighting the skills you have that are relevant to the employer.

In today’s post, we will focus on two possible job areas.  Please see below a link to the ALIS website

Please follow the link below to the ALIS website to assist you in thinking about a Custodian and Personal Care Worker’s:  Duties, Working Conditions, Skills & Abilities and more.  You will want your resume to reflect this information as much as possible:
