YWCA Opportunity Shop Customers are Good Friends

Today, as often happens, a customer complimented us on our shop. She said it always looks so clean, and well organized, and she loves to shop with us. She also donated some very special family jewelry treasures because she “knows and appreciates all the good work we do.”

In January each year, we notice a temporary drop in donated clothing and household items at the Opportunity Shop. This happened again this year; however, things have picked up and we’re back to receiving lots of donations.

We’ve just started our Winter Clothing Sale, with clothing for the whole family on sale for 50% off until March 15. There are some lovely winter coats available.

To keep our stock current, nothing stays in the shop more than two months. After that time, prices are reduced by 50% and then 75%. Everybody likes to get a deal, and our bargains are truly a bargains, when you get 75% off in a thrift shop.

We’ll be celebrating Customer Appreciation Days again this year from Thursday April 20 to Saturday April 22. This is our time to let our customers know we appreciate their patronage and friendship. We serve coffee, tea, and homemade cookies all week. We have a draw each day for a Gift Certificate and a selection of sale items.

Just a reminder, we’re always very appreciative of donated items. You are helping us help the YWCA. Clean, gently used clothing, household linens, toys, books and small household appliances in working condition are all welcome. We accept donations Monday to Saturday from 10:00am to 3:30pm.

The YWCA Opportunity Shop is a volunteer-run thrift shop that supports YWCA Saskatoon. It is located at 4 – 511 First Ave. N. and is open Monday to Saturday, 10:00am to 4:30 pm. We know our customers and call them friends. See you in the shop.
