What do holiday hours look like at a 24/7 community based organization?
Today, and during the next week, many of our dedicated YWCA staff members are working long hours and extra shifts. Instead of spending the holidays with their own families, they are giving their time to families who are staying in our crisis shelter and are counting on us.
Our doors are open for new clients, and this means intake, counselling sessions, basic necessities, referrals for specialized care, and all the extras of festivities and programming.
We know the holidays are even harder for women and families in crisis, and part of the healing is our wish star ceremony every year. Our waffle breakfast is a treat, and turkey dinners and homemade baking are planned.
